Number Race UPDATE for Sunday May 29, 2016

Updated Numbers Racer Letter-

This is going to be a great event. Please read carefully and please share with your paddling friends.

Please carpool. PaddleFest will have limited parking passes available for carpooling competitors only. Spectators have to pay for their own Park Fees at the put in. $3 per person or $7 per vehicle. Each car that enter the Number Launch Site must pay the $7 daily vehicle fee.

Please meet at the official Number’s launch site at 9 am on Sunday May 29th. Bring snacks and water. We will have our safety talk together and go over the rules and how we plan to run the event at the Numbers put in. There are 2 classes of racers. Mens Long Boat (9ft-12.5ft), Mens Short Boat (under 9ft), and Women's Open (all boats). Please be aware of rising water levels. Please only race if you are paddling strong this season. You will need to be a solid class 4 plus kayaker with a bomb proof river roll. If you are not, just let us know, we can redirect you into some other events that are less demanding. Thanks.

Here is a quick check list for you to be able to race.
1. Please have flotation bags in your boats.
2. Have your name and phone number written in your kayak and on your paddle
3. Dress for cold water paddling, have footwear and be prepared to stay warm.
4. Bring a throw bag, whistle, and river knife.

We will start racers at 10 am. As paddlers are ready we will send them down in pods of 5 or so to float to the start line ( downstream of the Numbers put in ) Once paddlers get to the eddy on river right above Number 1, they will check in with the timers. Racers will then go one at a time from just above Number One and will finish at Number 5.5 Racers will go in 60 second intervals. The race finishes at Number 5.5 on the river left side.

Please try to shuttle together with peers as much as possible to avoid too much traffic. Please be respectful as a driver and to where you park and watch out for spectators on the dirt roads. Everyone has to be respectful of all private property. Do not congregate at areas that are posted with Private Property Signs.

We are sure more questions and answers will come up. So please come prepared to be safe, have fun and to be a part of the first ever Numbers Down River Race.

Thanks so much
