just a heads up, if you wanna find paddlers on the payette river a good place to find them is kayakidaho.com....

also a good way is to show up at the Banks Idaho parking lot and ask around.

(i am really not trying to push our site on you folks on mountain buzz, just trying to help a fellow paddler)

I'll be up in Banks Friday evening for a run and camping out all weekend. Silver Forrester with a Lime Green Jackson on top. She's just started to drop to around 1,750, which is still decent summer flow. I'm not sure what your comfort level is, but a quick drive upstream and a couple of scouts should sort you out.

Looks like the flow has dropped to around 1750. I've done the run a fair bit and think 1750 is my favorite level so far (not too terrifying, but still padded).

Any of you Idaho folks care to guess how long its gonna stay at that flow? How long 'til it drops below 1200?

Thanks for the beta!

It often stays that high through September. Sounds like it won't this year though.

Stay in touch with Phlyingfish.

He's basically a native now and has a good handle on it.

Will this weekend be our last shot at getting on the NF this year?

There is no camping at the putin. It is a gravel pull off next to a very busy road. If you like sleeping amongst wadded up toilet paper then you could try the sliver of flat rocky ground next to the river, but that definitely gets an NR.

You'd be better off finding a place to camp before Smith's Ferry or driving down the North Fork and picking a less shitty pull off.
