north fork crystal info

Will the north fork be runnable this weekend? Any info would be sweet, thanks!

Yes. Definetly runnable, although low (which is fine). Take the high road there... i.e. do NOT drive through the town of Crystal. I think its the Lead King Basin road that will drive away from the river after the first hill, and eventually drop you into the top of the run. 4WD is reccomended, but it is mostly dirt road driving on the high road. The Crystal road route is brutal on the vehicle, and it takes longer.

North Fk is fairly overrated. It is some fun slides but not much of a run.

If you run all of the drops it is plenty of a run. Most paddlers hit the top 4 multiple times, and then rally the crux gorge and the boulder gardens at the end. This is where the best vert is anyway. The entire thing is runnable at the right flow.

I agree that CRC's rating is overrated. But the quality of the run is top notch high alpine park and huck.
