New Years Pics...Shoshone

It was fun matching names and faces to start my second season of boating. I hope to see all of you on the water in the coming warmer months of the season. (or even in the pool)

Thanks a bunch to Golden River Sports for keeping me warm and dry!

Thanks to Karen for the shuttle and these semi-pro pics!

Cheers,
Marc

Thanks Mark and Karen for posting your pix up!

---Here is a copy of my post on the original New Years Shoshone thread.---

What a great way to bring in 2010, paddling on Shoshone with all you Polar-bears!

Here are my images from the day (see link below). I have created a site for you all to see them. If there is an image you really would like to have just make a note of the image number (at the bottom of the page) and click the link at the top under my name giving similar instructions to send me a direct e-mail and I will email the image back to you.

They are also on Facebook on my wall. Friend me here and see them that way also. Don't forget to tag yourself.

Not as many paddlers in the second run this year. I hope these images warm you up for your effort!

I hope to paddle with you all again maybe even when it gets above freezing.

Best,
Peter Holcombe

Wow!!! Looks cold

You guys are so brave. What was the temp outside? Did any one roll. Brrrr.... None of my friends here in Canada are as adventurous as you. Maybe I will have to start a New Years Eve run too. Temps here were -8 celsius.

Awesome day and I'm so glad I got to paddle and meet you guys. Has anyone tracked down those pictures that one guy on the side of the river was taking? (The guy with the enormous camera lenses.) Someone got his name and card...I would love to take a look at those.
Great day and I hope to make this a new tradition: )
Peter, your photos are great, thanks for putting them up!

2 years ago on this run it was -13 C so no excuses!

In the group I was near I saw 1 guy flip 2 times...giving some nasty rocks a kiss too so he was a bit scraped up...4 people flip once and no swimmers this year!

Air temp was around 23 F. I would guess water was 34-36. Rolling wasn't that bad as long at you were ready for it. Rough day for those kissing rocks though. Laurie, great to see you again, Beth good paddling with ya, same goes for the rest. Gannon, what happened to your two runs, I only saw 1?? Thanks Peter for the shots.

Yeah if another crew was going I probably could have been talked into it but I was borrowing a drytop and don't want to make the guy wait around....Nice excuse huh!

Talk about your river Karma...Not 5-min after someone asked around if anybody had a skirt to fit a Mamba and I delivered a guy overheard me say I was hoping Bill (who was late but brought the booze) was going to show so I can borrow a DT and they said they had one I could use!

Can't wait for warm weather and lotsa boatin!
