New Bridge at Red Lion on Boulder Creek
Just upstream of the temporary one lane bridge, a new, permanenet, two lane bridge is well under way. They poured retaining walls pretty far back up the bank on each side and have a very heavy concrete bridge ready to pour a slab on top of. Above the precast beams, the rebar for the slab sticks up another foot. This thing looks like the real deal in terms of a well engineered structure.
The retaining walls that act as the bearing for the bridge are presently surrounded by lots of rip rap (large rubble). I'm not sure if the rock will be regraded when its final, or if it will all remain as erosion control.
While there does not appear to be any new rapid likely to evolve from this, it will be easily boatable for years to come.
It is nice to see a real fix to this long time issue on the creek.
The picture doesn't show much. It is looking downstream at the new bridge.
