Need Royal Gorge Outfitter Recommendation

An acquaintance wants to do a Royal Gorge trip.

A) do they let strong, fit first timers on paddle boats down the Gorge, and

B) Who would you recommend for a good small-group trip to run Parkdale and the Gorge?

Thanks,

-AH

Andy,

Yes they will let first timers run paddle boats.

There are quite a few good companies down there, the best thing is to make sure they request a senior guide.

A few companies to check out would be
Performance Tours
Clear Creek Rafting
Echo Canyon

Hey Andy,

Tell them to call River Runners and request Justin Peevler as their guide. He is a buddy of mine and I am biased, but they will have a great time. I sent a group of 7 people last Sat down his way to run the gorge and 3-4 were first timers they all came back stoked. My 2 cents.

They do let first timers go down the Gorge. I've brought beginners with me many times. I recommend Clear Creek rafting. They have very experienced guides and they're a lot of fun!

Royal Gorge Rafting doesn't charge you for any of their gear, which a lot of other companies do. For first timers who don't know what to expect in the gorge, a free wetsuit and splash top is great. The guides are all top notch, too (no one with under 4 years experience, i.e. they won't be on a boat doing a cert run).

Rivver Runners

I'd have to agree with Adam. River Runners is the longest operating outfitter in the Gorge and they have the guides with probably the most experience. Justin Peevler is good, I can also recommend Jim Andres and Gary Bauer as a great trio of guides who will provide a great trip for your whole group.

Enjoy.
