Navajo Reservoir - San Juan River

Sorry guys- I know it's been getting low down there, but we have to drop it even more for some bio work-- following that the release will increase though! Let me know if you have questions.

BUREAU OF RECLAMATION
NAVAJO RESERVOIR RELEASE
August 20, 2012
SENT VIA FAX AND E-MAIL

The Bureau of Reclamation will be decreasing the release from Navajo Reservoir from 900 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 650 cfs tomorrow, August 21, 2012 at approximately 9am. This temporary, lower release is made in collaboration with the San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation Program (SJRIP) for a project taking place at the Four Corners Power Plant fish ladder. The decreased release will be required for 9 hours. The release will be increased to 1000 cfs at 6pm on the same day to compensate for warmer drier conditions that are currently forecasted in the basin. Releases are made for the authorized purposes of the Navajo Unit, and to attempt to maintain a target base flow through the endangered fish critical habitat reach of the San Juan River (Farmington to Lake Powell). The SJRIP has requested this temporary decrease in the target base flow in order to complete this project.

This scheduled release change is subject to changes in river flows and weather conditions. If you have any questions, please contact Ryan Christianson at 970- 385-6590 or e-mail him at [email protected].
