Ha -- good one. I don't think too many people will get it, because so few have actually seen it.

I've never known the name for it. In my mind it exists as 'an effed up mess that I portage on the right".

Is there a flow when it goes clean?

Yes it does go at some ridiculous high flow (at least ridiculous for my skills). There is a video on either YouTube or Vimeo that I have seen a hard sheller sneak down the right side portage line when it has some flowing water.

Gotcha.

I want to get in there with more water at some point, but even still -- I'm not that guy/it doesn't seem worth the risk when there are so many other quality low-risk rapids above and especially below it.

Another one in SW Washington, a stretch of stellar water just below a section that does see a lot of traffic, yet the hard cores don't find it challenging enough to bother with. Luckily I get to run it a couple times a month for work in the fall.

The last one from me, the ubiquitous shot of the beautiful wife from the Pacific Northwest Whitewater book, hard to believe they even included this run in the book of "whitewater".

Apparently not so easy?

Hint: It's a short distance upstream from this:
