My little 5 year old's first time in a Kayak

This was a fun time on the Yampa River with my little one. Today I went out to boat, and she said, "you're going kayaking without me?". That made my heart melt just a little to know that she really did enjoy her first experience on whitewater. This is in the Jackson Dynamic Duo on the Yampa at around 1200CFS. Let me know what you think.

The thumbs up after getting pounded at the 3:35 mark was when I knew she was tough! Well done!

thats awesome dude great to be a Dad. Part of me wishes I didnt get rid of my DD the only reason I did is because I saw a buddy take his kid and they rolled and he was panicking to get his daughter out of the boat wasnt a pretty site but time will tell I take my boy out on a ducky and smash every wave I can lol

That is the risk I am so scared to face taking my son on the river as well. I hope the training and experience will over take the panic when it comes down to it. We are stupid to think it won't happen to us; proper training, good gear and common sense hopefully will provide a safe passage for our kids to continue on our addiction.

Awesome Matt - except for the music which made me feel like I was watching an after-school-special movie.

after school special

I'm more reminded of Pepsi commercials in the 90's. I always love some VH for river music.
