Murtaugh Canyon-Idaho querry

Anyone know or done Murtaugh Canyon at 750cfs? Spiked up to near 800cfs recently and holding. The Good Book quotes 900cfs as a minimum, but it is Sept and I will be driving right by it. Aside from possibly portaging Pair-A-Dice rapid, are most of the drops good to go and read/run at this lower level?

Thanks,

Not sure what gage you are looking at but it is in fact 6000 cfs right now. I ran it last week when it was 5200 and found it to be a really fun level and the Idaho Connection (surf wave at the end of the run) is also at a good level. The gage is here:

Thanks

Ran it for the first time Sunday around 6,000 cfs. Pretty incredible run.

For a first timer I'd hook up with some locals if you can. There's information in other threads.

The river at this flow is pretty wide and you can read/run if you are suitably experienced. For the most part the upper rapids (Knuckles, Maybelliene, Misty, Junkyard) are big but roughly center runs until you get to Pair-a-Dice. Then they become a bit trickier. Hooker's you can skirt to the far, far right. I ran Door Two on Let's Make a Deal, and recommend that for your first time. It's a bit of a challenge to figure out which slot that is, though... which is why I strongly recommend a local to guide you. Redshanks is left/center-left with one move, and the same for Duckblind, roughly.

Ran it twice a few years back. Its big and I still wake up with the cold sweats. I think I got PTSD. Just driving by Twin Falls gets my blood pumping. I would only run that with experienced class 5 boaters who knew the lines and follow them. Thems some powerful hydrolics let me tell ya. I'm still shaking the water out of my ears.

At 6,000cfs it is a lot more tame. Granted, it is different than many rivers because it is very pushy, has huge waves and hits and has large eddy lines and boils... but right now its a good flow for newbies to the Murtaugh unlike, say, above 10,000 cfs.

There is good late season surf in there too at the Idaho connection. This is a couple of a paddle boat surf. they got stuck in there and took about fifteen minutes to get out.
