Muddy Creek - Too much cfs?

I plan on taking a few newbies down the Chute of the Muddy next weekend in duckies. The flow is 400 to 500 cfs right now - what is a safe max level?

Never heard of it maxing out to un safe level. We did it around those levels years ago and it was even bony in places.

Duckymaster, not sure of your plans, but my friends and I are planning to run Muddy Creek this weekend in a few duckies from Tomsich Butte to Hidden Splendor on Sunday. If you're interested, I'd love to work out a shuttle system with you instead of having to bring two vehicles or hire someone. Let me know if your interested.

It's still running that high? We ran Muddy at 500 cfs over Memorial Day Weekend. I can't imagine doing that run below 400 cfs personally. Running with people who've gotten on it at 250 cfs (in 05 and 97) ... the range you're planning for is perfect. Have a great time. Head in with a full tank of gas as its about 80 miles to the closest station.

Put-in camping area is amazing!

Enjoy!

We did it yesterday at what we think was a little over 400. Did it the week before at about 200 also. It was good yesterday but we still hit rocks (in two duckies, one SUP and one kayak). If I have some time I will try to post a video... super fun time in a beautiful place. Bring some bug spray. Those biting flies were out yesterday for sure.

I Boated this with BKC and agree, 500 is prime. Could probably handle another couple hundred more without much impact.

Muddy Run

Thanks for the offer, but I managed to run the river last Friday. It was a fun day, a bit bony as the water had dropped about a foot. We also did the Little Grand Canyon of the San Rafael river - a great run, but full of party boats on the weekend. Have a great run.
