Marble/Redstone question

I'm heading up toward Marble/Redstone next week, and was wondering if anyone knew of some good car camping in the area (not looking for developed pay sites). Also, if anyone else will be in the area and wants to meet up some day to boat (Monday through Friday, IV to V-), my schedule is pretty wide open.

Bogan Flats is very nice, but it's a pay site right on the crystal.

It's pretty thin if you want to be close to the road, lots of private property. Camping off side roads is possible if you are discreet. Driving a few miles up the Avalanche Creek road yields a few spots and a decent campground.

Bogan Flats ($17) is really your best option if you want to stay between Redstone and Marble, it has some nice spots right on the Crystal. I ran into the same issue of not wanting to pay for camping last week and ended driving up and over McClure Pass to find free Forest Service camping. It was not to far to drive but you still have to go 30 minutes or so. Good Luck.
