BLM guide avail from NRS

Lower Salmon River Guide Book

most of the info in the book is on the blm website too.

I did it in 4 days Thanksgiving week. Turkey day on an overnighter with my lady was rad! Take a motor for the Snake if all possible. It would have really sucked without it. Probably could still bang the Snake out in a day, but it would be long and hard.

The 20 mile row out on Lake Snake is indead a work out, but managable. I find that a Fifth of some adult beverage is less costly and messy than an outboard on my boat, and offering this up for a trade helps ensure a tow from the numerous gas powered boats passing by.

The snake isn't so bad, as long as you do it in the morning to avoid wind. Fun trip, learn about slide rapid at high water, and launch mid week to avoid the rabble rousers. Lot of fun II-III, one fun IV, and two somewhat technical (yet boring if you make the right moves) III's. My favorite part was before China rapid, and then through blue canyon. I also liked the first day below Hammer creek.
