Lower Blue, Green Mountain

Hi all,

I've been receiving questions about the release from Green Mountain Dam to the Lower Blue. Most folks are wondering when it will change and what the resulting flow will be.

Unfortunately, I do not have an answer to that question right now. I know typically this time of year, we start to see calls for water out of Green Mountain and our releases begin to go up. With the Colorado River still running a little higher than is typical for September, we don't have any of those types of changes, right now. We are still releasing about 400 cfs.

Meanwhile, the reservoir is at an elevation of 7946 feet above sea level. That's only four feet below full.

Please let me know if you have any related questions.

Best,
Kara

I've told that crowd a thousand times, in a big snow year there is no release untill the res. fills up.

Not true. I know of a couple local paddlers (including myself) that inquired about the flow issue on Kara's facebook page.

Thanks for the update Kara, always appreciated.

Hey Kara,

I noticed this morning flows have spiked up to 500.

Will this hold for awhile, or perhaps go up?

Enquiring minds want to know...

Sorry you guys! I thought I had posted an update here yesterday but it looks like I did not.

YES! We are up to 500 cfs today (Friday) and it looks like it will stay for a while--at least through the weekend.

We're releasing water for the endangered fish program. They're the only ones asking for water, so far...

Thanks Kara.

Any chance it'll go up another hundred?
