Lower Blue going up up up

All,
Anticipating the coming run-off and responding to rising inflow, we have increased our releases from Green Mountain Dam again. By this afternoon, the Lower Blue should be running at about 800 cfs.

Please let me know if you have any related questions.

Best,
Kara

Hey, who do I have to bribe to get the water out of the top of the dam again??? That was way cool! Bummer something has to break to make that happen!

Also if it ran that big last year why does the USGA site say in 1952 it was a record of 1730? Am I reading this wrong?

Also where is "Fight wave" in this run? Anyone ?

Fight Wave is located at about the halfway point a little before the canyon with the steep wall. A good landmark is an island right before it, usually run on the right. Once the river joins back together, fight wave is just a couple hundred feet ahead on river left. It is a shelf 3/4 river wide with a large pool behind it. there is always a wave there, but only gets better with more water. Some friends hit it at peak last year (~2300), said the wave was outta this world....10 feet high and glassy with a little crash at the top. Its gonna be a big year, so it might flow like that again. Keep your fingers crossed!

And up again!

Hey everyone,
Sounds like this will be good news: we're bumping up another 100 cfs today. That will put around 900 cfs in the Lower Blue.

Denver Water increased their release from Dillon, so we are bypassing that inflow. We are also excavating space in anticipation of the coming snow melt.

So, those of you hoping for big flows in the Lower Blue might see it. We'll see what happens as these warm days continue through the week.

Let me know if you have questions, comments, concerns, etc.

Best,
Kara
