Lower Blue bumps way up

Howdy all,
It's getting nuts, weather wise. I don't know how long this spike in flows will last. Here is the last message I sent out today after a long day of increased releases. I thought the 800 cfs might interest the kayaking crowd...

All,
Well, I've always said this water scheduling business is hard to predict. I have one more change, in a long day of changes, to notify you of at Green Mountain Reservoir.

To stay in step with increasing inflows to the reservoir, which is full, we will bump releases up another 200 or so cfs this evening.

That means, when we are finally done making the gate changes at the dam, there will be somewhere around 800 cfs in the Lower Blue River below Green Mountain.

Please keep in mind, we might have to make changes again, up or down. So, please be aware if you get out on the river tonight or tomorrow morning.

I will be in all day tomorrow if you have questions, concerns, etc. For those of you asking what we suspect the Lower Blue to do through this week, I can honestly tell you, after a day like today, there is no telling!

Right now, it's up.

Be safe out there!
Best,
Kara

Releases to Lower Blue bumped up more during the night. Should be around 920 cfs today. I don't know how long that will last. Depends on the rain...

...and it's on its way back down. The localized rain storm over the reservoir that sat there most of the night is starting to move on. The large bump up to the 900s helped us move some water out of the reservoir. So, we can scale back now to keep the reservoir full.

This morning, we'll scale back releases by 200 cfs, putting the Lower Blue back around 720 or so. If you want to head up after work, check the gage and/or give me a call. I'm betting we might have more gate changes throughout the day.
