Lower Blue Beta

Floating Upper C and fishing todayand thursday. Thinking about trying to hit Blue below Green Mountain friday, but have always heard of issues with landowners and don't know what obsticles man-made or natural thatneed to be avoided. Also what about shuttles and heard the put-in was a steep drop. Any info on this run would be greatly appreciated, level shouldbe aroud 1,000 cfsif that changes things.

thanks

Landowners really aren't anything to worry about as long as you're respectful and stay on the river. There are a few diversion dams, but they shouldn't cause many problems. Haven't seen it since the landslide a few weeks ago, but i think they cleaned it up.

Shuttle is easy, just be in and out between 8am and 8pm at the put-in, otherwise they lock the gate. The put in is steep, use a rope to slide the boat down the hill and you'll be all set.

one more question, is the take out on the trough road or somewhere else? I've heard it's a 4 mile float but obviously the Trough Road is about 12 miles down from the dam

First opportunity for take out is Spring Creek road bridge. The float from Spring Creek to Trough is all flat water through ranch land. Almost all people except maybe fishermen take out at Spring Creek.

take out on trough rd.

Bring a long rope and a belay device(if you have one, it easier) for the put in that way you lower your boat down that hill fully rigged with no problems. Take out is on trough rd on the right before the first bridge, take a right (like you're going to gore) and you'll see cars parked on the left. No significant rapids and just go right over the dams in the center. If you pull out at spring creek rd, you miss all the fishing on the ranch. No pulling over...stay in you're boat ...don't hang up on rocks rule is in effect once you're on ranch property, it's a sensitive spot. Enjoy

Spring Creek is for a kayakers only take out. Rafts are not allowed to take out there. And it's a take out only...you can't put in.

Like has been said be respectful ,stay in your boat and keep moving along and you'll be fine. Think beyond yourself when there and don't give the landowners any ammo to shut down access further and screw things up for everyone else.
