Loma to Westwater this weekend

We are doing Westwater on Sunday and some of us are thinking of doing from Loma on Saturday. With the big water, we are hoping to do it in about 7-8 hours. Anybody done it lately in the big water?

It's probably 4 hours (5 at the most) from Loma to Westwater at the flow you will be seeing.

Thanks for the input. It was the time I had hoped for.

There is a group of us putting in saturday in Loma and going down to Cisco takeout, our permit starts monday for west water. We are guessing we are only going to be on the water 30 minutes to an hour a day. Do you know what west water is like between 30000 and 40000 cfs.

Based on one forum feedback and talking with other people, is that it should take 4-5 hours from Loma to Westwater. We are camping at Westwater Saturday night and going down to Cisco Sunday. Big and wide river with lots of junk in it. We have some experienced people with us and they don't seem to worried. One guy has done it about 25 times and we also have a Westwater ranger going with us in his boat. Follow the leader.

Buddy just did Westwater at 34K last saturday. Said Little D had big huge waves. Other than that it was a relative wash. Said the eddies would've been interesting in a kayak.

Westwater to Cisco is nutz. I did it tuesday at 38000, fliped 1 of 3 boats in scull and couldnt eddie out till eagle camp. Didnt lose anything, but I would caution everyone attempting it to stay center in skull and all other rapids. The only ones with waves were little D, Marble, Staircase, big hummer, skull. Everything else was so washed out by sucking eddielines and monsterous boils. If you gonna go just practice your highside and have flip lines, cuz its flooodin out right now. peace

We caught Westwater at it's first peak of 41,100 on May 23rd and it was really pretty casual. All the rapids were completely underwater and washed, just lots of squirrely water and wierd eddy lines. Make sure to float around and over Hades on the right. That was pretty cool. We went from Westwater ranger station to Dewey Bridge in about 5 hours. Enjoy!
