caution. we floated it on the weekend of the 4th, believe it was around 850cfs. we put in at devils canyon and took out redbridge cg.

the first section from devils canyon to the gate cg has two very low bridges, maybe 2 feet of clearance. fine with a kayak, no good for a raft. also there is a log jam about 7-8 miles into the run. its on a blind corner, but a good eddy on the right. heads up.

the section between the gate cg and redbridge cg is nice but there is a land owner who is either pissed to see boaters or is a nice guy trying to tell people about a diversion dam on his property. line is basically down the middle. there was a log on the left side and a nasty rock on the right. we didnt get close enough to shore to find out what he wanted. just waved and rowed by. there is a barbwire fence about 4 miles into the run that is passable on the far right but worth taking a look at. just dont get out of your boat to look at it.

there is good signage at river level letting you know if you are on public or private land. this is a beatiful class 2 run. too bad it has some man made issues. enjoy the trip.

Ummmm...

I was down in that area on the 4th as well.
We ended up spending all our time on the Taylor river,
and driving home I kinda regretted not checking out the Box.

But Honestly after reading your post, I'm glad of the decision we made.
Way too many man-made hazards for my liking.

Also, I imagine Yeti is well aware of these issues, because if I remember correctly, he lives in Gunnison. Nonetheless, your posting is very helpful.

Thanks for the info.

thanks for the updates. ill be in an IK so the bridges wont be a problem, especially with the flow at 470 ish. big thanks about the log jam, i will be heads up for it.

im just planning to run from the high bridge launch to the gate cg, and thus avoid the private property bullshit.

still looking for takers.....
