Kayaking History Thread
Whilst looking at pictures, videos, trip reports, etc, while doing the waterfalls thread, it was interesting to see lots of old videos and information come up. Got some good information but left a lot of questions I had.
So, to offer an alternative to the off season, low water flame wars that like to rage, let's try to have some nice threads to post and comment on that aren't so divisive. So I propose this: the kayaking history thread.
Some questions to answer (but not limited too):
Who had first descents on Colorado's waterways? For example, who were the first people to run the Crystal Gorge? Yule? Baker's Box?
What's the highest certain stretches have been run?
Where have some of the local heros of the sport gone? What are they doing these days?
What are some impressive changes to happen to rapids/rivers over the years?
