Kayak Expedition Suggestions?

I'm looking to do a 12 day wilderness kayaking trip in early summer (anywhere from May 18 - mid June). It would be a team based out of Colorado, so rivers or combinations of rivers within 30-40 hours driving would be best. Class IV would be best (we would be self supporting with loaded Green Boats), but some V's would be alright if they were easily portaged.

It's hard to find a true 12 day wilderness run on a single river in the US, so maybe hike into a tributary that flows into a river?

An obvious choice would be the Grand, but I'm assuming its pretty difficult to get a permit for May/June - but any advice would be appreciated.

I've been looking at the Caniapiscau River up near Labrador- it's definitely a trek - any previous trip beta from people on here or beta on the surrounding area?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Oh, and the river needs to be in the US or Canada.

There are some options in Idaho..

Start high in the headwaters of the Owyhee and take-out at the Leslie Gulch Reservoir.

Another option would be Marsh Creek/Middle Fork Salmon/Main Salmon/Lower Gorge Main Salmon/Snake. This would likely need to be done before permit season begins.

How about putting in on the Green River to do labyrinth, Stillwater, and cataract all in one go? Lots of flat water but very pretty. Good rapids in Cat.

Other than that.... alaska? There are also tons of long river trips in ontario and quebec that are usually canoed. Some of those runs have pretty good whitewater on them too that the canoeists usually portage.
