K-1 - Need advice on playboat and paddle...

I posted this to the gear section without much success. I realize that k-1 is not too popular but any help is appreciated.

Been busy changing diapers for the past few years butt, anticipating a few hall passes next year. Looking for thoughts on solid craft for K-1 playboating. Also looking for a butter-smooth K-1 paddle that can take a beating.

Muchos gratz,

chris k

Is this Chris Kintner? Formerly of the hood?

For the paddle, check out Woody Custom Paddles.

They do not have a k-1 paddle listed, but I'm sure they could make one. If you're looking for smooth and durable, Woody is for you.

Any modern playboat will do. Same with paddles as long as you don't buy a Seven2.

Kinda depends on your size as well.

K-1 ...modern playboat...

Thanks for your help, Scott!

Are there any sites or places I might look for different outfitting info/methods?

Thanks again.

I would hardly say my transition was seamless.

Don't have one yet, but you would be ideal for a Project 52. Heard they are the bomb. Also the vision 56 would suit your needs. Creeking, go for the Jefe, no equal.

Being a C-1 enthusiast makes it tough to watch a whole thread that is errantly posted as K-1 advice. I must be right in thinking you are looking for advice on C-1 paddling.

Paddles:

Mitchell Premier Curved (smooth as they come)
Werner (one of the most durable on the market)
Woody Custom Paddles (I had them make one last season that was a bent shaft and did not work out but they now have a straight shaft design that is sick)
Fluid Technology
H2O Paddles (new)

Any Kayak can be converted, look for something with hull speed so you can catch waves on the fly with 1/2 the paddle of a K-1! I would recommend a ZG or something of that nature unless you are going to strickly park and play.

Correction ....C-1

NHINDS,

You blew my cover, alas I am on the jv team . Thanks for the advice and correction all the same.

Wondered if you could tell me what your learning curve was like in C-1 paddling?

Many thanks and happy Holidays to you.
