Jim Matthews has passed.

Sad news for Colorado boaters. Jim Matthews was killed two weeks ago in a freek traffic accident. Jim was a Army Ranger 10th Mnt Division, squirt boater, father, tele skiier, and friend. Here's the news link to his story. The last couple of nights have been rough, just dealing with loss and losing touch with a friend.

That is really sad. I didn't know him well, but he seemed like a very nice person who enjoyed life and had a great energy. RIP and condolences to friends and family.

Oh that is horrible. I just saw Jim a few weeks ago. Jim seemed to me to be a very passionate paddler. Thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones.

Yea RIP Jim....

I heard this a few days ago and my heart goes out to his family..

He also more than held his own on a dirtbike and snowmachine as well.. Just a week or so ago he was down at the shop full of almost unbelievable stories (normal for Jim) and attempting to get a tps to work right for his m7 cutler 1000......

Yea RIP Jim.... You will be missed...

ohhh Man That is terrible news!!

Don and all who knew him,

So sorry to hear this ugly news. what misfortune...
He was truly a character with a huge spirit.
Always had an amazing story to tell, often lately about getting shot or nearly blown up in numerous tours of duty...
He understood real risks and adventure. from what I knew of him he lived a very active and adventurous life. So you could say his life was very full and well lived, but I know he had lots more living to do.

So this is truly sad!
too many really good paddlers have died on the roads...

I would love to float a river to remember Jim Matthews if it could get organized.
