Jackson Kayaks - Different years - Different Outfitting?

So I got a Jackson 2fun ...its like an 02-03 (bought it used ...dunno exactly). I love the hull, but the outfitting is wreched (ratched backband ...horrible seat). I saw an '06 and it had happy and sweat everything and looked real comfortable. So my question is at what year did they make the switch to better back bands (front tightening) and put the happy seat and sweat cheeks in? Thanks.

p.s > How different are the '07 hulls to the older ones?

'06 was first year with sweet cheeks and molded seat,

I think they switched backbands to the cleat system in the '05 boats. So if you want an older model Jackson with all the imporved outfitting, get an '06 or call Jackson and they'll sell you an upgrade kit for something like $150 or $200. The '07 hulls are noticeably different than the "classic" hulls and for the Allstar-series boats, a pretty decent improvement imo. Haven't paddled a '07 fun series enough to really tell.

I upgraded my seat and backband last year in my (3)Fun. I do recommend it if your hull is still in good shape. I can sit in that boat for days with the new seat and have a bit better control with the custom fit on the cheeks. It wasn't cheap, BobN is close on the cost if I'm remembering correctly. It is also not too easy of an upgrade. Took about 3-4 hours and a lot of swearing.

Craw is dirt-biking right now or he would have already posted a response. Send him a PM for details.

From what I've seen 05 is the cleat backband.

06 is definitely when the sweet cheeks and happy feet came in and I have seen some 'transition models' that have the old seat and the happy feet (and no the feet aren't a retro fit).

I have an 07 4Fun and the hull is amazingly different to the 06 model, should have given it another name it's so different, much faster and much more 'play' - plus loads more room I love it.

Another improvement that came in with the 06 sweet cheeks seat was the seat is 'infinitely' adjustable, in the earlier models there were three positions for the seat and it was harder to adjust, 06 and on it's the thumb screws pointing vertically (as opposed to horizontally in the earlier models) and you slide the seat where you want.

This is from the UK, but I can't see why any of this would be different
