It was still there as of July 4th. It didn't look like it was going anywhere soon. It's pinned pretty bad between a log and a rock. Bryan Houle was able to knock one of the river wide logs out of No Way Out will a well placed rock toss from 100 feet up the cliff but was unable to pop the bloated carcass after repeated attempts. To get through no way out it looks like you have to choose between going under two logs on the right line or doing an elk splat on the left line.

Mikey K. and I ran V. Sunday, July 10 and the elk/deer carcass was still in No Way Out. It's not a factor though. We ran the center left down to the wall/eddy, boofed the flake rock on the left, and then went left around the big rock. Something you should watch out for is a branch sticking out from the left wall by the flake rock. Mikey boofed the flake rock with a little left angle and got pinned between the rock and the branch. When you boof the flake rock, have one o'clock right angle, then move back left around the big rock. As for the other wood, there is a HUGE log spanning from wall to wall at Pick-up-Sticks. It's not a problem. Catch the eddy on the right and then either scrape down the right rock or run the center slot into the right hole. There is a log after Fuzzy Bunny but it is way down from the falls and is lodged at a steep angle to the river right wall. One other thing, when we ran V. the Internet gauge read 2.25, which I thought was an old school 2.0. The left side at No Way Out gets really manky below 1.9. Have fun and be safe.

B.I.G.D.,

so you're saying the gauge is reading high?

when we were there two weekends ago we looked at the gauge at the campground and it was reading about 2.4 something....then when i got back to a computer...the internet was reading the same...what do you think the deal is?

also, as the level comes down, will No way out still go? with the log being there? (since most of the flow at low water will go right, and into the log)

thanks!

I'm going to scout it well, we're doing some weird photo shoot for Patagonia/Lotus up there this weekend.

Thanks for the current Beta

Think the water's cold enough to keep the meat fresh?

Yeah, horse steaks sound great after a day on Vallecito!

Think someone took the wrong trail and the horse fell off the rocky, blasted ledge on the hiker trail? That would suck to have seen that, especially if it was your horse.
