Irritating news from Wyoming

Sorry if this has been brought up already but I couldn't find a thread.

Wyoming has enacted a Invasive species act similar to Idahos. At 15 bucks a boat(out of state) it is over twice what Idaho is charging(7). So, to boat Idaho and Wyoming my wife and I and I will be paying a 132 dollars plus a year for stickers that accomplish nothing but fund more bureaucracy. Sux.

State rolls out program to block invasive species

You can get them here:
Wyoming Game and Fish - Boating - 6

On the upside, for the Evanston, Beariverfest, all racers will be given a five day temporary tag, free of charge. They will also have a booth for educating, and selling stickers at the event on May 22nd.

By "fund more bureaucracy" do you mean "attempt to keep invasive species out of my rivers?"

I agree with you on that end, but all I have spoken with have said this scourge is not stoppable. In the regs I found it interesting that fishing tubes and fishing catarafts under 10' fall as exempt.
I'll wind up paying it, just find it irritating. It would be nice if every state is going to sign on, which they eventually will, if it was one fee.

Checking on highways or just on rivers? Wondering about driving through these states, but not boating.

I agree, as stated before, this is just big gov making more jobs, one person with an email campaign could spread more fact and have more effect.

Its getting regulated by fish and game. So I would guess that would be primarily water based. Anywhere they check fishing licenses. Based on the meeting I just got out of, they are regulating "lightly" the first year with stiff enforcement in 2011.

Wyoming is notorious for throwing money at a symptom and missing the big picture. This is just one more reason for the simple minded people of Wy to hate the government and for me to never set foot or paddle there again
