If you love wild rivers take 2 min to do this!

We have until July 24th to comment on the proposed hydropower project that threatens Ernie's Canyon on the NF Snoqualmie in Washington State.

Ernie's is a phenomenal class V run just 20 minutes outside of Seattle. Even if you are unable to enjoy it's whitewater you will lose if it is destroyed. We all will. It's an important part of our sport and our history.

Take 2 minutes to add a comment here.

You don't need to say much - just let them know that proceeding with this project would have a hugely negative impact on our recreational community.

If you want to check out what is at stake look here for photos.

Done.

Amazing that the state can be removing dams on the Elwah and White Salmon and at the same time be looking at building more.

If you have trouble with the link to the comment section try this:

And if you want more information read AW's page on the proposed project.

"The river has been recommended by the Forest Service as a Wild and Scenic River, is adjacent to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Mt. Si Natural Resources Conservation Area, is on a reach identified as a Protected Area from hydropower development by the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, and flows through the Snoqualmie Forest protected from development by conservation easement purchased by King County with the goal "to prevent any use of the forestland that will significantly impair or interfere with its conservation value."

...from the website....how can they consider hydro development when 3 times it has been protected? Comments sent!

Great points, Rich.

King County's easement even prohibits hydroelectric of this size explicitly! How this project has gotten this far is beyond me.
