The NF Payette's your best bet for class V. The lower 5 miles is class (IV+, V), but the rest of it is solid class V. The SF Payette and "canyon" run of the SFP is class III-IV

How fantastic to have this link. I am also going on holidays at the end of this week to Idaho and want to do the following rivers - Carbarton 3 - Main Payette - Swirly Canyon - Staircase Canyon. Do you know which station I would use as a guidline for these rivers. I do have the Idaho Whitewater State guidebook written by Grant Amaral.
Thanks in advance.

Cabarton - NF Payette Banks
Main - Payette at Horseshoe Bend
Swirly - Add SF Payette at Lowman and Deadwood
Staircase - Add Middle Fork Payette to the above.....or subtract the NF Payette Banks flow from the Payette at Horseshoe Bend reading.

Clear as mud....

For the staircase levels - I subtracted subtract the NF Payette Banks flow from the Payette at Horseshoe Bend and got 1730, but when I added Middle Fork Payette to above - I only got 926? or did you mean to add it to all of the above.

I'll be there all week as well. Starting with Boise WW Park. Heading to Banks to do Payette, etc. Using AmericanWhitewater.org for water levels. Would also be interested in anyone's favorite play spots.

Best play spots right now are Kelly's and the Boise WW Park (although I think they messed with the waveshapers over the weekend and mucked up the wave a bit).

Main and Carbarton are chill. I'd opt for some Staircase and Canyon runs right now while the gettin' is good.
