I need some gear reccomendations

In about a month I'll be starting an internship in Denver that pays well more than I'm worth. I need/want the following pieces of gear:

Drysuit ((M), must have a relief zipper)
Rescue Vest (M)
Full-Face Helmet (M)

Any suggestions or good deals? I'm planning a 5 day paddling trip in mid-may, so I'd like to pick up the gear by then, either in person in CO or online. Though I'll be getting paid this summer, I'm still a bit of a poor student, so price *is* an issue. Thanks.

here is what I would get:
Kokatat or Palm drysuit
Astral rescue vest
sweet full face rocker
problem is that totals like $1400 but I think they are all very important pieces of gear.

I have an older Lotus P Vest I have really liked and need to upgrade so have been looking as well. It seems the Astral Auquavest 300 is the top choice these days, otherwise I did like the Kokatat Ronin Pro. I would not buy a used PFD(especially rescue vest) so other than a sale it seems hard to find a lower price on them they all hover around 200.

Astral has a new Greenjacket coming out that looks like more coverage but it seems to not be out yet, not expected till May. It looks sweet so I am waiting for that I do believe.

What about this budget-minded shopping cart:

Cascade full-face
Kokatat Tropos Meridian
Soloquist X-Tract Vest

With a tether, that puts me at $885 via Outdoorplay.

Any big arguments for Astral v. X-Tract? Astral may be worth the $$. Don't know that I can justify the cash for the Sweet full face.

I don't think I'm up for buying anything used, unless it's from someone I know.

Save your money and make a teather or just don't get one.

Out of anything you listed I would recomend going $$$ on the helmet, it is your most important peice of gear, I have used the cascade helmet w/o the face bar and thought it was ok but I didn't feel as comfotable as I do in my sweet helmet.

Not 100% but I think it failed its inspection and is not getting approved! Therefore will not be on the market!

Gear

Hey CM,

You could by a cheaper helmet such as a Pro Tech & then go to your local sports shop & buy a football face mask & modify it to that helmet if you are definitely wanting a mask. I did It for my creek helmet & it works just fine for a cheap date.. About $20 for the mask...easy to do and there are plenty of styles to chose from.
