Husum Falls on White Salmon

Does anyone know if the tree has been yanked from below Husum from the winter?

It was still there yesterday. Rumor has it that the FS is afraid that this isn't a strong tree and therefore doesn't want to start the process until the water drops. They are afraid that when they start pulling the tree will break and they won't get the whole thing.

For reference, this tree is basically right on the line you'd take to the boof flake. It's pretty much exactly in the wrong place.

We ran all of it except for Husum on Saturday.

The FS fella said they were hopefully bringing in some logging equipment next week to pull it out.

Apparently some genius ran it though, w/o scouting it.

I took a look at it from the bridge after our run down The Truss. I would say there is still a clean line just to the left of the log, assuming you pull a good boof off the veil. That said, who knows what lies underneath the water, so pluggin' it could be bad news.

I'm just of the opinion that it isn't worth playing games with right now.

Haven't heard yet if the FS was able to get it removed this week.

I'll be going back up next Saturday (27th), and let you know if I don't find out before then.

White Salmon River is at 2.6 ft, the main logs (yes... there were 2 of them) are out but still a little more wood needs to be cleared before it's runnable. We'll keep you posted...
