How many people have broken ankles kayaking poll

I'm wondering how many people out there creek boating have actually broken their ankles. I'm heavily debating between getting a stomper and karma, and wondering whether the jackson bulkhead system is worth it to save ankles. Would 3" closed cell foam on the foot pads work too. The biggest drops I usually run are bear creek falls size, but would like to hit the tellulah soon. The JK bulkhead system seems awfully flimsy sitting in the boat, as well the center brace.

I sprained both of my ankles at the same time landing on a rock off of a waterfall.

You can definitely improve any bulkhead by adding padding (if room) and some layers with holes like this:
Outfitting Your Bulkhead (Not Contour Ergo) | Dagger

The importance of all this depends on what you run regularly. I would certainly not worry about it on Bear Creek, but The Thing looks like it could f- you up if you hit that shelf.

The thing on the Tallulah definitely had been the site of many broken ankles. If you are running the thing, you might consider that.

I broke an ankle. I was in a borrowed boat, and one heel was sort of resting on the other ankle, since the boat was too small. When I pitoned, boom.

I pitoned my brains out in a stomper (slightly fractured my nose on the cockpit rim) and only had a slightly sprained ankle. The Jackson creekboats supposedly have some sort of great impact system, but what good is it if you don't feel solid padding. I'd say get any creek boat that feels good to sit in and try not to smash rocks too hard

I sprained both ankles badly in a no boof piton. I was paddling a nomad with no foam on the bulkhead footbrace. Can't help but think a bit of foam may have helped, but having paddled Jackson since then, I really think their bulkhead system is excellent and along with wishing I had a better boof that day (and every day), I think I would have fared better in a Jackson
