How low can Ruby/Horsethief go?

Hey all,

We are taking a bachelor's party down Ruby/Horsethief next weekend (9/7-9/9). I read the thread which spoke of a possible turn of the faucet on the Colorado River after this weekend due to maitnece work at Shoshone. So I have a few questions to ask.

First, has anyone heard anymore about projected flows for next weekend?

Second, how low can you go on Ruby/Horsethief? I know the smart-ass answer, but realistically, what is the cutoff point. We are pushing off Saturday morning and need to be loaded up and on our way back to town by Sunday evening.

Third, if Ruby doesn't work out for us, can you suggest any other nice floats to take a rowdy, drunk group of 15 on? We need to keep it w/in 4-5 hour drive of Front Range.

Thanks in advance for the ideas and beta.

Cheers!

Brian

i don't think the pumphouse run on the UC has ever been run sober either. easy low water run even if you are seeing three rocks when there is actually only one.

You could also try the lower Gunnison-Whitewater to Escalante? A tad closer then Ruby...haven't checked the flows but should be good. Any hookers/strippers on the trip or just a sausage fest?

Hi,

When we were running Westwater at 1,250 a few years ago, people were coming down from Loma all the time with no problems.

FWIW.
