Hendri Coetzee's Living the Best Day Ever FREE on Kindle til 26th

Just saw that Hendri Coetzee's book Living the Best Day Ever is free right now on Kindle until the 26th. It is my favorite whitewater read. Hendri was the trip leader on the first source to sea mission on the Nile but tragically was killed by a crocodile paddling in Congo in 2010. His book details several of his kayaking and non-kayaking expeditions. It's really excellent.

Thanks for the post. I'll need to buy that. He was a great guy. Hung out with him in Ethiopia for a night and a day. We ended up at the same hotel as him. We were surprised to see another crew of whiteys cleaning a raft at the same hotel. He just got off a section of the Nile with some buddies and we just got off the Omo. We chatted and shared stories well into the night and the next day. Hell of a kayaker and exploratory expedition leader.

probably better not to buy it. A lot of free E-book downloads in a short period will spike this book's rankings, and then Amazon will market it more aggressively down the line when it's back for sale. go for the free download and you are helping the book's cause, more than if you purchased it.

No worries enjoy the read!

@Oarframe, Iím a Virginian that has been living in Kampala, Uganda for a couple of years. @Zbaird, Do you have a write up or any footage on the Omo? Always keen to explore other rivers in the region

It sounds like something I need on my shelf but i'll download the e book to the laptop anyway.

There are a couple videos around.

Unfortunately the govt flooded it. We were the last group to go without portage of the dam site. The amazing gorge that housed big grand canyon style whitewater, jungles so thick you couldnt see ten feet in, massive walls jutting straight out of the river, all the different monkeys swinging in the trees, baboons throwin shit at you, crocs dippin below the muddy surface, hippos false charging you, leopards chillin on the bank and more wildlife than could be imagined is 700 ft under water now. It is unclear what has happened to the dozen or so subsistence farming tribes like the bumi, bode, mursi, and hamar that counted on the floods to fertilize the banks. A damn shame, what an amazing place.

Dam site and the failed culvert bridge that made it possible for us to avoid portage.

Downloaded last night, and just finished it. Need to buy a paper copy for the shelf and read again. And again.
