Green Mountain to Lower Blue dropping

Hi all,
Over the next three days, we'll be cutting back releases from Green Mountain Reservoir to the Lower Blue in anticipation of some upcoming maintenance work. We will be cutting releases in 25 cfs segments, effectively dropping from the current rate of about 250 cfs to about 175 cfs by Sunday morning, March 25.

Changes will occur Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and, each time, a reduction of 25 cfs will be made.

As always, please let me know if you have any related questions. I'll be in all day tomorrow, Friday.

Best,
Kara

Lower Blue dropping a little more

We dropped the Lower Blue a little more again today. Here's the note I just sent out:

All,

We made another change at Green Mountain Reservoir earlier today. As we continue to prepare for some upcoming maintenance, we scaled releases from the dam to the Lower Blue back another 50 cfs.

The Lower Blue is now running at about 125 cfs.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Kara

The lower blue has plumbing. It will run this year.

He knows.

That was a joke.

Just a heads up to the anglers - the (wade) fishing in the canyon is pretty solid right now. The low flows allow you to access much more of the canyon on foot than you normally can.

Prediction for Lower Blue flows well into May

All,
A couple days ago, I updated you on the reduction of flows at Green Mountain Dam to the Lower Blue dropped to around 125 cfs. Then, we scaled back releases to about 72 cfs.

Tonight, I am updating you again to let you know that, with recent snow pack conditions in mind, that release rate is likely to remain in effect well into May--and possibly longer, depending on weather.

We also declared our "start of fill" at Green Mountain on April 1, this year. That means, we started storing water in the reservoir on April 1--the earliest date we can start storing.

For more information, and for other water related updates, please visit our webpages at LINK

As always, please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.

Best,
Kara
