Great Gift Idea
I am pretty sure I am not the first person to post on this topic...seems like someone else did a while back but, I couldn't find it...so, I'm posting again. I've read Doug Ammons book....The Laugh Of The Water Nymph...a few times now. I wish there was a volume II coming out soon cause' it's a damn good read.
TLOTWN is a collection of 22 whitewater related stories from one of the most experienced and well traveled paddlers among us. If you read it, you'll not find much about play-boats, rodeo, and the latest tricks....You will get a first person narrrative of Doug's trip down the Stikene, Turnback Canyon of the Alsek river, and a handful of other "old- school" type expedition stories along with some insightful commentary about river people and life. A copy will no doubt find it's way under the trees, into the stockings, and in the hands of my paddling friends this holiday season. I recommend it..but, I'm also interested in anybody else's thoughts who has read this book.
