Grape Creek

Anybody out there ever been on Grape Creek near Canyon City? I have been drooling over the gauges and spotted one class V-ish run that was up (391 and rising last I checked). I have read some of the beta offered on Eddy Flower, AW, and CRC. Is the shuttle hard? Is 400 CFS a good flow?

Thanks y'all,

Eric

Peeps are talking about trying to get on it tomorrow

As I understand it, over 300 is good to go. The shuttle isn't that difficult, but the last two miles down to the access point can be a little rough. This time of year it might be a good idea to have a 4wd (there are some washed out areas that might be a little muddy after the past couple storms).

I'm seriously considering taking the day off tomorrow to run it.......

I live in Canon City and have been watching Grape as well, and I think tomorrow thurs is the day it will start flowing good. I got a visual on monday on the lower part of the creek and it looked boatable. The shuttle can be kinda long if you want to take out early to avoid the flooat out to the ark confluence. Call if you want to go tomorrow. Corey 719-205-2593

worth it or not

hey guys I am from Durango and saw grape creek gauge last night. I was considering driving up there to check it out. I have heard its not really worth it. I was wondering what any of you canyon cats thought. is it worth it. the other ark gauges don't turn on till April 1st is anything else running around there if anything.

"is it worth it" NO! But if you do go, have fun and be safe.

The "Is it worth it?" question is all relative. I think the only other creeking in the state right now is Barrel and Pine Creek, and that's better in a playboat anyways. I wouldn't sacrifice a weekend around the Poudre or in Durango, etc. for it. I haven't done it, but considering my options, I'm going tomorrow.

The Salida gauge is reading 631. its not big, but all sections of the ark are runnable.
