I'm headed to Coulee next week to check out the area and for a job interview. Is there any good boating in the area? Want to make sure I'm not going to have to drive for hours to find some decent water.

No whee, don't do it! Or get a new hobby. I would sooner shot myself the live out there. Ok, if youre a lake boater your ok. But everything is atleast a couple hours and mostly seasonal.

Wenatchee has some good stuff and some crazy ass runs too. But really nothing special for the average guy. The tiaton (spelled it wrong) has a nice fall run. Nothing real close by. Spokane??? I wouldn't move there for the boating or senery for that matter.

Spokane has a lot of play which is in a majority of the season, but the closest creeking to us is Sandpoint. There are some rad runs up there though. Wenatchee is always a good time, lots of play, big runoff, and beautiful.

I grew up 1/2 hour away from there. It's a wonderful place. Check out the Wenatchee, Methow, the Entiat, Chewach. Not very far is the Grande Ronde in Oregon and of course many rivers on the west side. There's a link on here somewhere showing when they let water out of Lake Chelan for rafting/kayaking the Chelan gorge - it was awesome. Spokane area does have a lot too.
If you lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. Winnie the Pooh
