Caught an evening run last night with Glenn, Neff, and Glenn's buddy Chris (not sure if he's on the Buzz or not?).
I went to school at Montana State, learned how to roll a kayak in the university pool the last semester I was there, but never hit a river until I moved to Missoula the following summer. Definitely left some unfinished business in SW Montana. I first ran the Gallatin in a raft back in '06, then again last summer.
Last night was my first kayak run on the Gally. Holy shit, I missed out. I thought the MF Flathead was quite possibly the friendliest III river in the state. I was wrong. The Gallatin is even more friendly and playful. After two months of weekends on the Lochsa (which didn't suck at all!) it was fun to hit a low-intensity river and just try to surf small features and enjoy the gorgeous geology floating past.
Thanks again, gents. Looking forward to another round with you.
