No its not a secret (at least in my book)..... The Fluffy Muffin is located between Blue Mesa Resovoir and Crystal Resovoir.... The Flow is visual, you can't really judge the flows at all, it doesnt use the same gauge as the Black canyon since it is above Crystal Resovoir.

I would say since it is fall and nothing is really running, then yes it could be worth the drive from Durango. The only problem is its not super consistent. Can turn from the Fluffy Muncher to the Fluffy nothing. Since they were planning on keeping the Black Canyon Flows consistent, there is a possibility the Fluffy Muffin will stay the same to..... unless We get a ton of rain or something.

I can't tell you how happy I am that a play spot in Colorado has been named "Fluffy Muffin"! Top of my list for playspot/rapid names! Most Excellent! Much better that Bum-F*ck Falls or Satan's Gut!!!

from the north side road.

You can get a good visual of the wave from the north side road, before you huff it down the 233 steps. Cross the dam at HWY92, go about 1/4 mile after crossing the dam, park at the turn out and hike to the edge of the canyon. Binocs help to see better.

Please do not tell anyone that the Gunnison River flows out the bottom of Blue Mesa Resv or you will never get a parking spot.

when you hike down the pine creek fishing access on the south side of the river, down those steps beside the small creek, you go downriver along the trail [or in the water] for how long before you get to the hole? thanks

Steven, Bastard, all... the hole's about 1/4 mi down from the steps and occurs just befor the canyon walls along the river become noticeably wider.

I posted a long and exact description of the spot on the last muff thread-think it was called 'the muff' about a month ago. Find the post, find the spot.

Update: The hole is still in, but the water level is getting higher. Even though I suck, everyone else that has been there in the last couple of days can say it is arguably the best play spot in colorado right now. We plan on being there tomorrow, fingers crossed the water level will keep low enough.
