Florida is running

The Florida below Lemon is at 400 and climbing as of this morning.... should be running for a while with all the snowpack, but who knows. It ran for only 5 or so days last year. Get it while it's there....

Heading up there around 4ish this afternoon if anyone wants to go

PS - anyone have the dam keepers number so we can figure out how long he's planning on releasing?

III+ with some good ledge boofs, some ok play towards the bottom. Watch for wood and barbwire (boof ALL the ledges, no matter how small...just ask COSurfGod about it). Last year there was one piece of wire you had to duck (easily) right above the bridge drop. Runnable from 250-800 cfs.

Put In below the dam or roadside just up from Helens Store at the gravel pulloff. Take out is CR245 immediately after the bridge. Probably trespassing on the takeout, but I've never heard of anyone being hassled.

Lars Johnson owns the property river right below the bridge. He's a cool guy and can be reached at ReMax in Durango. I own the property river right downstream from the first Forest Groves bridge and immediately upstream from the private bridge that comes after the Forest Groves bridge. There's a ladder to climb to get out - if it's still there with 400 cfs - and something of an eddy.

I believe Lemon will be releasing 500 cfs today and then go to 750 the next couple of days (Thurs-Friday) to flush the headgates. This should be the best time to go. After this it will be irrigation season and will run at the usual levels for summer (300-400 cfs). I have always asked for permission to take out at CR 245 and never had any problems.

Did it this afternoon. There's a submerged log in the runout of the put-in rapid to be heads up for along with some other logs. Some of it could move with higher flows, but everything goes right now.

Good level today, but could use more

Send a message via AIM to ScottBarnes
someone give me a call if you go on Friday.
I've been working too hard and need to get out on the water.
I'm over in Bayfield, just south of Vallecito
