First and Third Person Grand Canyon Video

I just finished assembling my video from my February Grand Canyon trip. I covered most of the early stuff, plus the heavy hitters. Our water was running between 16k and 20k. My right side of lava run starts at 16:10 if you want to skip ahead.

Sweet vid. I watched the entire thing (18 minutes) the other day and was very entertained. I usually can't watch a five minute vid fwiw.

Your vid seemed to play perfectly. No pauses while it does whatever youtube vids do while they don't play and...the quality seemed a notch or two above.

So well done. Thanks for posting.

What camera did you use to film it?

I used a GoPro HD to film all of it, running on the 720p, 60FPS mode.

You own that boat? Looks sweet. Did you support all those kayakers or what was the other boat?

I was borrowing that boat. My 16' was on the trip, but the buddy that lent me the 20' was only comfortable having me row his boat.

How would you compare some of those waves to toilet bowl, when it's running? How about granite on the snake?

It doesn't compare to Toilet Bowl very well, and I haven't run Granite on the Snake. The tongues are just massive compared to anything you are used to here - they start 100 yards before the first wave and feel like rolling magic carpets. The waves themselves are bigger than what Toilet Bowl attains for those two waves at the crux. I think I'd compare Hermit with the wave that forms at Carter Bridge above 10k, but the size still isn't there.
