family run on pumphouse?

Looking to take mom and gf and gf's sister for an overnighter with the usual city-slicker issues. it seems that pumphouse to radium is a pretty short run. can you camp at rancho del rio or state bridge? Anyone done an overnight trip in this section where you don't have to rig for a multi day trip?

Thanks for any beta.

You can camp at Rancho Del Rio, they charge like 2 or 4 dollars and have porta potties. It's definitely not very scenic but fun if you don't mind the porta potties along with many dogs and summertime slackers roaming around.

I do not believe State Bridge has any camping.

Overniter Pumphouse to Statebridge, good for a 2 day float. Stay at Rancho Del Rio. Jeff Gibson, owner, also has 4-5 cabins w/kitchen, full bath, bunks. Treat the Family, $70/nite. 970/653-4431. [email protected]
Statebridge burnt down this summer. Nothing there, is what I here. We catarafted from Pumphouse to Rancho w/4 yr. old on day trip @ 2400 cfs. Lovely canyon. Go during the week, if you can. Mellower. jt

There is also car camping available near State Bridge, and some on-river spots downstream on river-left that you can access on a half-mile of dirt road (a little bit of steem drop offs, fyi). You could then boat down to Catamount where there is BLM grated fire pits. There's another canyon between Catamount and Burns that I've heard is very scenic. Everything is pretty much class II, with the exception of the Burns drop may be a III.

Pump House Family Trip

We did this this past weekend. With 3 kids and 8 adults We put in at pumphouse sat A.M. floated, camped at Island campsite(It has an outhouse) got up on sunday had a picnic at the dinosaur tracks trail(across from Rancho Del Rio) and went the rest of the way to state bridge in the usual Colorado weather for this time of year. It is a great trip that will keep everyone occupied with scenery and other people out on the river. We are going to this trip again because of it's close to home and we can make a 2 dayer out of it if we wanted to.
