Encampment River

Anybody know the road conditions getting into and out of the encampment River? Wanting to go fire it up this weekend.

Take your chains and snow shovel. It's _really_ early for the road to be open.

You can call the forest service office and they usually know when someone gets through the drifts. My understanding is that the first people through are usually locals with big honkin' trucks, so even if they get through you might need similar vehicle to run shuttle.

I have been eye balling encampment for SUP. Did a long weekend on North Platte last year.

Steamboat, I suspect we're talking about different sections of the Encampment. The road issue refers to the road to Hog Park, because this is the limiting factor for the upper run. That's a very challenging run for a SUP, and not to be taken lightly. It's a couple very solid steps up from the Northgate Canyon.

You are right. I've been eyeing the lower section through Encampment. Upper would be well above my level.
