Eagle - Brush Creek - wood removal?

Anyone know anything about the heavey equipment work performed recently on brush creek in Eagle Ranch? All the wood has been removed and it looks like some deeper spots have been created. I know Doc Steve has run it in spring run off and that there are some low bridges, barbed wire and manditory portages. Not sure how far up they went. Curious what the motivation was to clear the wood? Safty? ...thoughts?

The Eagle Ranch Wildlife Trust is funded through a .02% transfer tax on all home sales in Eagle Ranch. They're spending some of that money on fish/stream habitat improvements, repairing years of agricultural degradation. Can't add much boating info for you, but above Eagle Ranch there are some older homesites with at least a few driveways that cross the creek. Low bridges or culverts may be spring flow hazards. Some of the Eagle creek boaters may be able to add more info.
