Dolores River weekend of June 11-12

If we can only do 2 days we will plan on Gypsum to Bedrock on Saturday and Sunday.

If we can get a group together that can do 3 days it'll probably have to be Friday thru Sunday since the water release web site says they are cutting it off on the 12th. A friend from Boulder wants to come along if we do 3 days and start at Bradfield Bridge.

Respond to one or the other idea - a 2-day, class II+ to III; or a 3-day trip, III+ to IV (Snagletooth which can be portaged if need be).

Is the Dolores an open river still, or do I need a permit? I haven't run it in 15 years and would like to just head down when I get some open time.

We are also headed down this weekend. Would like to run shuttle Friday morning-noonish and get on the river to camp Friday night. Would prefer to put on at Pumphouse and take out at Bedrock late Sunday or early Monday. Looking for someone to set a shuttle with. Let me know if anyone is interested.

No permits other than the Gateway to Colorado confluence section, and you can call and get that over the phone/fax. The releases out of McPhee will be over soon though.

Keep an eye on the Dolores Water Conservancy, You may be setting yourself up for a rough trip if you push it to Tuesday. There is about a 12 hr lag before the flows out of McPhee hit Slickrock and 24 hr before they hit Bedrock. Inflows have peaked and they are coming down quicker than I expected.

I say there's a good chance you'll be able to float to Bedrock until Monday- the website is talking about a gradual rampdown after Sunday, not a sudden shut-off, you have a 24-hr lagtime to Bedrock, AND the website tends to under-promise so they don't disappoint, so may even be more/longer than what they say (their original forecast was for a 10-day 800 flow- it's been more & longer than that). I will be doing either Bradfield-Pumphouse or Pumphouse- Slickrock Sat-Sun depending on whether it is really 800 or stays at 1,000

Yeah, I think it will be safe through the weekend too. The reservoir will be topped off by Friday and spilling all of the additional inflow that isn't being used for irrigation (~800-1000cfs). SYOTR.
