Their season is a tiny window in April or whenever the snow melts. In August there will be fishing, American made cars, Micro brews that will give CO a run for it's money, Ween and plenty of motor boating. I might be wrong, but I doubt it.

There's some stuff that runs all summer I think. Not sure if there's a MI specific forum, but lots of people on rapidsriders.org (MN) paddle on da UP. They might give some answers, otherwise poke around on American Whitewater, their info seems pretty comprehensive.

We used sit on tops out of Au Train on the Lake Superior side. Prob not what you are looking for but it was a fun beer inspired float. Fill up on pasties and cudighi sandwiches while your up there.

Never been but have looked at the paddling opportunities. Lake superior apparently has some surf kayaking potential and Wasau in WI has a play/gate gate park that I think has year round flows. I thought I found a short CL III run with dam release flows but I can't find it on AW right now.

There should be a few rivers to run, but I would say mostly canoe runs. You might get a better response out of some one from Wisconsin since Escanaba is pretty much in Wisconsin. Hope you have fun, beautiful in the summer over there!

thanks for all the info so far. i appreciate it. i wasnt expecting much at all, just hoping for a spring-fed or small dam-controlled stretch of water that had even the smallest splishy splashes. but its not surprising.

is the meninomee (i dont know how to spell your crazy north words) worth anything at a low flow? one source i saw said 850 was a low, its running 4600 ish right now, is that any good for low water?

anything else? anybody? bueller?

The goods seem to all flow into superior, particularly around l'anse and ironwood. 3+ hours away. Even then you'd need a LOT of rain in August. Might be some mellower stuff, but not a destination area.

I would ask your question here
