Controlled flood releases on the Colorado

I've been lucky enough to be invited on a private GC trip in March, '08. I've been hearing about the possibility of a 41,500 CFS 'controlled flood' release during the time we'll be on the river. Any kayakers have experience on the Colorado in the Grand at these levels? Some kayaker beta would be very helpful (rafters perspectives are not always useful to kayakers).

They have been discussing this on the GCPBA Yahoo forum. You may be able to glean a little kayak info from there.
