Clear of the A & Castle Creeks Wood Free

TX crew logged runs on Clear Creek of the A on Sat. the 24th and Castle Creek/Slaughterhouse on Sunday the 25th. Both creeks were free of wood and good to go.

Little confusion on Clear as to the 1st (1st and 2nd?) and 2nd (3rd?) gorges of Clear Creek. Put in at the Missouri ck trail head and took out above Clear Creek Ranch below what we were considering the 2nd gorge, though we now understand it to be the seldom run 3rd gorge. It was one giant beaver dam and required some portages with very little gradient and manky rock gardens. I assume we were the only ones clueless enough to take out this low, as the first campground below the first (1st and 2nd?) gorge would have been a better takeout. There was a very brief break in the gorge walls in the first gorge but Iím not sure I would consider it a whole different gorge? Thanks to Jahve for posting his findings on the wood situation before the weekend. Creek was approx. 180 cfs and provided plenty of water for the top half of our run.

Castle Creek was clear of wood with the exception of some wood after 82 in the flat section, easy to spot.

We ran lots of river in our 5 day stay in the Ark Valley. Thanks to everyone we shared beers and eddies with. Thanks to Abron and his NM crew for getting our 4runner unstuck. Lmyers & Phil U, sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up on this trip. We ended up packing 3 to 4 runs in to each day and it took all we had to feed ourselves and drink ourselves to sleep each night, like kids in a candy store.
