Clear Creek above Lawson Hole

Are there any decent/runnable sections of Clear Creek above the Lawson Hole? There seem to be some decent rapids just above the hole, but is there anything up further (all the way up to Georgetown Lake)?

there's one decent class IVish rapid just a bit up from the lawson hole and a long low angle slide through a tunnel. a fun run is down the lower west fork c.c. (look for wood first!) and into the main branch to takeout at dumont.

For the section Danger mentioned, if you don't want to run the west fork you can launch from the vacant lot across from the easter seal camp. Make sure the 2 I-70 tunnels are clear of wood. Stop by Mile-Hi rafting in Lawson they ussualy know if it's clear. If you start up here there is a short rapid at the 1st bridge you cross. The IVish rapid is not far beyond the 2nd I-70 tunnel. Paddle down to Dumont and it makes the run more worthwile.

Between the dam and this section there isn't much but beaver dams, strainers and low bridges. They did replace the culvert just below g.town dam so you can run the rapid below the dam.?

If you want to go all the way, from what I understand the river has been run as high as Loveland Ski Area.

The Easter Seal Camp is the way to go.

There is a great 400 yd class IV+(V-) section above there. But the crux is definitely a "NO-GO" with multiple trees across the river.

We ran it yesterday & to go up higher definitely adds some excitement to the run. I think the rapids at the top including the Lawson section are some of the beefiest of the run. just my opinion

Cliff- Are the logs in the rapid after the 2nd I-70 tunnel (putting in at Easter Seals)?

Gage- Yes, but I don't recall any names or details.

I ran the run Cliff is talking about (with Cliff) this weekend. The only wood I remember is in the longest steepest rapid. It is the 2nd significant (IV+) rapid after the west fork comes in. Maybe that's after you go through the tunnel? I can't remember. It is long and steep and it S-turns right and then left at the end. It has a tree with branches that is underwater on the right side in the top third. It looks like a concern for an upside down boater or a swimmer or with lower water but we were fine. You could go over it (the gauge was maybe 750 cfs in Golden?

The log at the crux that Cliff is talking about is upstream of the "easter seal" putin, a ways up the west fork of CC.

Anyone ever ran ...

Bakersville to Silver Plume? Character looks in the IV+ range with maybe one V channelized section.
