Cataract high water TR & Carnage vid

A group of us thought it would be a good idea to run cat at high water. While it wasn't such a bad idea it certainly wasn't a good one either.

I swam. Jon swam. Ben swam. Robin swam. Sam swam. Kenzie swam. Joe swam. Zoe swam. Daniel swam. Alden swam. Blue swam. Yale swam. Ohh, and Roger got a beat down (but did not swim!!!!!).

The results of taking 13 and 14 foot rafts and a very small playboat on cat at 50K CFS is an unrivaled adrenaline rush that developes deep in your lungs just before you puke out the water in them from swimming!

Hopefully this vidoe does some justice to the big drop 3 vs a 13 foot star wonder bug...watch the splash on impact, CLASSIC!

I couldn't tell, does the raft flip right after the splash?

I love the rowing backwards with the paddlers facing downstream - never seen it before, but it makes total sense.

Sorry about the poor video, understand that the little 30mm cannot see very well from 2-300 yards away (that is about the width of the river).

By the way that is big drop 2 not 3 but as the video turns you can see big drop 3.

Yes the raft eats a gigantic shit pie and sets up those 3 swimmers for an epic 600 yard swim through some of the nastiest rapids the Colorado has to offer directly through Satans Gut.

Awesome!
I think that was the tailwaves of Big Drop II. Hopefully the swimmers didn't swim Satan's Gut.
